What’s new

Kinky Sydney is back

And pretty much everything has changed.

Kinky Sydney was offline for longer than we originally planned.

There was a good reason.

Rather than patching up the old site and carrying on, we rebuilt Kinky Sydney around what we think a Sydney kink community should actually offer: real adults, stronger privacy, better ways to find your people, and more opportunities to be part of the community rather than simply browse it.

The doors are open again.

And this is just the beginning.

A community of verified adults

Every Kinky Sydney member now completes a one-time age verification using photo ID.

It helps us keep the community genuinely adult and makes it much harder for fake accounts, bots and people pretending to be somebody they are not.

Verification normally takes only a couple of minutes and many members are approved automatically.

If uploading doesn’t work for you, you can email a photo of your ID to The Admins instead.

Couple accounts can verify both partners and receive a Verified Couple badge.

We’ve taken privacy much more seriously

We know that joining a kink community is rather different from joining a gardening forum.

Privacy matters.

Your ID image is automatically deleted after it has been reviewed. We do not keep a copy.

Your legal name, date of birth and ID are never accessible to other members. You can also cover details such as your address and document number before submitting your ID, provided we can still see the information needed to verify you and your real age.

Your profile gives you control over what you choose to share, and member profiles and forum content are kept inside the verified community.

Be as open as you want to be. Not as open as somebody else thinks you should be.

Finding your people is much easier

The new Find Members search is one of the biggest changes.

You can search for people using criteria including suburb and distance, kinks, gender, orientation, singles or couples, verified status, photos and recent activity.

Update the kinks on your own profile and Kinky Sydney can also show you what you have in common with other members.

Because discovering somebody lives ten minutes away and shares six of your interests is rather more useful than endlessly scrolling through random profiles.

Better profiles

Profiles have been extensively rebuilt.

There is more room to tell people who you are, what interests you and what you are looking for.

Couple profiles have also been properly redesigned. Each partner can have their own gender, orientation, age range and interests, with either a shared couple photo or separate photos.

If you are one person or two, your profile can finally behave accordingly.

Verified photos

Mandatory age verification confirms there is a genuine adult behind an account. Not a bot. Not a minor. A real adult.

You can now go a step further and verify your profile or gallery photos.

Send The Admins a quick verification photo through Verify My Photos and, once confirmed, your approved photos receive a Verified badge.

Photos uploaded to Kinky Sydney are also watermarked.

Your photos now have a proper home

Your profile image now appears full-size in your Profile Images gallery alongside the other photos you choose to share.

Upload a little or upload a lot. That part is entirely up to you.

And you decide who sees them. Each gallery can be open to all members, friends only or private, and you can keep any single photo more private than the gallery it sits in.

Every member also has a Private gallery. Invite the people you choose, view only or view and comment, for a day, a week, a month or for as long as you like, and remove them whenever you want.

Private photos carry the viewer’s name and the date across the image, so anyone tempted to share one knows exactly whose name is on it. You can delete any comment on your photos, hold comments for approval, or switch them off.

It all lives in one place: Gallery > Privacy and sharing. And galleries are now much easier to use on your phone.

Groups are for finding your corner of the community

Kinky Sydney already has groups covering a range of interests across the community.

Join the ones that interest you. Meet people who share those interests. Start conversations and help build them.

And if the group you want doesn’t exist, request it.

As the community grows, we want the groups to grow with it. Some of the best parts of Kinky Sydney should come from members deciding what they want to build together, not from The Admins sitting in a darkened room guessing.

The forums are yours too

The forums are there for questions, experiences, recommendations, stories, ideas, serious discussions and complete nonsense.

If you’ve been lurking, introduce yourself.

If you have something worth discussing, start a topic.

If somebody else starts one, jump in.

Have an idea for the site? Tell us.

Have an idea for an event? Tell us.

Want to know whether anybody else is interested in something very specific and possibly slightly peculiar?

There is an excellent way to find out.

Ask them.

A community where everybody waits for somebody else to speak first gets quiet rather quickly.

What’s on in Sydney

The new events calendar brings Sydney’s munches, socials, workshops, club nights and parties together in one place.

Anyone can see what’s coming up. Venue, address and booking details are kept for verified members.

Running something? List it for free. The Admins check every listing before it goes up.

Tales: write your own

Tales is a new home for members’ stories, fact or fiction. Write something new, or paste in a story you’ve already written in Word or Google Docs and the formatting comes with it. You can add your own photos too.

Anyone can read a short teaser. The full tale is for verified members, and readers can’t copy or save it, so your words stay yours.

Tag your tale with kinks and content notes so readers find what they’re after. Your first tale gets a quick check from The Admins; after that you publish straight away. Start writing.

Say more on your profile

Every profile now has an optional Bio in three sections: Lifestyle, Physical and Intimate. Add your relationship status, experience, body type, height, how you like to play and more.

Couples can fill it in for each partner, and both sets of answers show side by side. The Intimate section is only visible to age-verified members, and anything you leave blank stays hidden.

Look for More about you at the bottom of Edit profile.

Dogging directory

Verified members now have a dogging directory with more than 70 spots around Sydney, the Central Coast, the Illawarra and the Blue Mountains. Search by suburb, filter by area, and see which spots have been reported most recently.

Heading out? Post on Looking for doggers to say where and when, and who you’d like to meet. Each location shows who has posted about it lately, and members reply by private message.

Please read etiquette and safety first. Stay well away from families and children, play only with people who have clearly said yes, and take your rubbish home.

This is only the beginning

The relaunch is not the end of the rebuild.

It is the foundation for what comes next.

As the Kinky Sydney community grows, we’ll continue adding features, improving what is already here and looking for better ways for members to find each other, communicate and take part.

And we don’t want to decide all of that ourselves.

If you have an idea for something Kinky Sydney should add, improve or do differently, tell us.

Contact KinkySydney through the member profile: kinkysydney.com/members/kinkysydney/

Some ideas will be simple. Some may take a little longer. Some may turn out to be completely impractical.

That doesn’t mean we don’t want to hear them.

Help us decide what Kinky Sydney becomes next.

Bring someone with you

Know somebody kinky, curious, interesting or gloriously difficult to categorise?

Invite them.

Kinky Sydney is free to join, and every new member goes through the same age-verification process.

We want to grow the community carefully.

But we absolutely want it to grow.

The best way to build a better Sydney kink community is for good people to bring other good people into it.

Now it needs you

The technology is rebuilt.

The profiles are ready.

The groups are open.

The forums are waiting.

What happens next depends on the people who turn up.

So log back in. Complete your verification. Refresh your profile. Add a photo. Update your interests. Join a group. Introduce yourself. Start a discussion.

Tell us what we should build next.

Then invite somebody worth meeting.
